Nav you are the only other person I know who cooks rice like me 🤣 most people I know have no clue how to cook rice and then end up with a murky slime on it where it’s not been washed 🤦🏽♀️and despite my efforts to teach people they still don’t get it 😂

I’ve tried to make rice so many times, and it’s always ended in disaster! Absolute shambles! My Indian boyfriend thinks it’s hilarious btw and jokes that I can’t even cook rice!😂😂 it’s hard! But for you Nav, I’ll give it a go and see… wish me luck xx

I just boil in loads of water, then seive. run cold water over it to remove starch, then pour boiling water from the kettle over to heat it back up, always fluffy. The trick is to not overcook it 👌

The secret for fluffy rice for me is to let it steam after. Cook rice way before you think you’ll

I do the free water method and have been doing for 40 years..no need for measurements. do as you've done but put plenty of water in..boil for 8 mins or until a ldente..drain put back in pan lid on low heat for 2 mins..simple job done

for all the people that's been using two cups of water, it's technically correct but it's just a different texture, Nav is showing us how she gets her rice her way,
"for cooking white rice on the stovetop is typically 2:1, meaning two cups of water for every one cup of rice"

Folks, I’ve done a LOT of experimenting and I can tell you definitively - rice fluffiness is in the quality. Tilda is fantastic as is any high quality basmati. Sainsbury’s own won’t cut it, spring for the good stuff.

I just can’t cook rice in the hob no matter how I’m shown so I now do it in the microwave and it turns out to be the best rice

OMG this is so much easier than how it was explained to me by mum and the aunties where they measure the water sat above the rice with their finger 😭 I’m going to try this way and hopefully that’s me and microwave rice done forever 😂 thanks Nav! 🥰
