I love what your people are doing to save your language. The true success will be when mass numbers of L2 Gaeilge speakers raise a generation of L1 Gaeilge-speaking children. Have children and refuse to teach them English! One big Gaeltacht! 🥰

Felt that! I changed my name from Evander to Íomhar. People who know me still pronounce it as the English version which is fine but having it written in Gàidhlig and hearing Gàidhlig speakers call me my name is really heartwarming. 🏴🤝🇮🇪

so after googling i now know that béarla means english but i couldn’t find out what the connection to last names is. i’m guessing it’s irish last names that got the spelling changed to look more english? i’d really love some insight. either way: congratulations 💚
