I would understand if they say they don’t do them anymore but to tell you okay and then not do it is kinda weird.

I asked for a wakeup call about a year ago in a hotel in Indiana and accidentally pushed the phone off the "hook" at some point so I never got the call. they came and knocked on my door to wake me up. 10/10 service

this isn’t helpful at all, but at disney world they have mickey mouse do your wake up call, so there’s that.

Probably because we all have alarm clocks on our phones.

I work at a big hotel in Las Vegas and wake up calls are still a thing for sure, if you don’t respond to the wake up call we send security to your room to check on you 😅

If you call and ask for a wake up call and they’re willing to give you one then they should provide that service. If it didn’t exist anymore than they should say no, we don’t do that and if they don’t do it, they shouldn’t accept when you ask for one.

I have the answer. I’ve been managing hotels for nearly 20 years now… And we don’t do wake up calls anymore. Phone systems are outdated. It is very, very difficult to find somebody who works on hotel phone systems when these problems happen so we can’t get them fixed often. Additionally, because of this inability to get these older phone systems repaired a lot of places have gone to VOIP. In theory VOIP is great because it’s so much cheaper but the cost is automations fail very very, very often. When people ask me for a wake up, call and let them know that we no longer offer that service and ask them if they would like for me to come down and set their alarm clock. A lot of people don’t know how to use alarm clocks and so yes I get asked to do that regularly

I worked in a hotel for a bit swapping between house keeping and front desk, and a lot of times wake up calls wouldn't get made because no one from the night shift made note that they had to happen and our system didn't have a way to keep track.

Is this a regional thing because I’ve never known anyone actually ask for the wake up call. May be regional or dated

I work at a Hilton property and our front desk phone has a wake up call button for us to set it and tbh I’ve been here 3 years and I’m not 1000% certain it works. I’ve personally never had anyone tell me it doesn’t but I also don’t fully trust it😂

I had the same thing happen! I asked for a wake up call bc someone accidentally took my phone so I didn’t have it. But my anxiety woke me up. No wake up call.

quick thing, are you absolutely sure the phone ringer is on? I also travel a lot and I think about 75% of the phones when I get in the room, the ringers are off.

80% you're lucky, I never get a call now. I just set the alarm clock and my cellphone to make sure I get up.

Im gonna say this is not a thing people do anymore considering everyone has an alarm clock on their phone. Why wouldnt you just use that?? Its like people who call somewhere to ask for directions… you literally have a gps on ur phone that will tell you exactly how to get there… use that.

Wake up calls exist at Red Roof Inn but it’s an automated call. They don’t personally call you.

hotel person here! why? the only people who ask for one are typically 60+ and traveling alone. there's alarms in the room, everyone has a phone. and the wakeup call set up in your room, is the same as ours. sometimes it glitches, sometimes they dont know how to do it, and dont get a chance to ask for help. and sometimes? the wakeup call just fails, it isnt a person doing it either 90% of the time, its an automatic system that happens.

Every hotel I worked at the wake up call was automated we typed it in to the phone and set it. We did not make the call. That was as far back as 2011. No hotel I worked at made physical calls.
