What if the client won’t or isn’t comfortable opening up about hard things? Would you push it more or let them do it on their own? I have a really hard time talking about hard things unless I’m directly asked, but my therapist won’t ask lol. She just kinda just lets me yap abt everyday things.

As a therapist, for the younger kids, sometimes when they are ready, I ask them to show me some of the feed on TikTok or instagram reels etc for me to see what they view as well as have them explain why they enjoy this form of engagement and give me a base of where to start if it’s a tough session/client troubles

My therapist talks a lot because he knows I’m very quiet and it makes me more comfortable but now I’m ready to talk but except he just talks all the time now. Not really sure how to shift this

Liz. I really like your content. As a client. My therapist allowed me to text what I could not say. While we were in the same room. I wept. I did not know how to push through. Also. I have used a dry erase board to help me say words I could not put sounds to. Thank you.

I'm that client. I didn't know it for a long time though. I was shocked when my therapist said that she has to engage and lead more with me. That with many of her clients she barely gets a word in. From someone with so many "rules" of social interactions, I would have never realized it. I so appreciate how patient she is and how she realized that I will stop talking even more when theres "therapeutic silence". She is so attuned to things I never thought of. I still don't understand how clients just fill the space the whole time. 😂

in person I always loved playing a game together. I did a lot of sand tray work so sometimes it was that. other times just any random game. with littlest I do show and tell and have them bring something to tell me about. ❤️

I was the quiet patient - I struggled to verbally talk about my traumas. I would shut down & dissociate. My therapist encouraged me to write & draw the traumas & then bring them to session. She asked me questions to help me talk about it. Now I am able to verbally talk about the things I’ve experienced - I rarely need to write it down now. It took 2 years to get to this point, she’s been incredibly patient & I’m so grateful for that. 🥰

how would you feel if a client brought in a slideshow where they kinda break down their life & the various different topics that led them to therapy for the first session?? ive had two therapists so far and both times theyve latched onto things that i didnt want to focus on, and i never even got the chance to bring up what i actually wanted to focus on. so to me getting all the different key factors out there in the first session would help me bring it up again later & the ppt format would help guide me through actually saying it if im struggling. i just worry that a therapist wouldnt like it
