Moral of the story. 1. staying low floor is better. 2. each home must have fire extinguisher inside and outside their unit which comes with purchase of the flat. 3. every lift lobby must have fire extinguisher maintained by Town Council. 4. Resident Committes & MPs be proactive. Organize fire prevention exhibition and practices.

The poor lady should be commended for her efforts to alert the neighbours. This time, who will the authorities blame for the water supply fault?

Many AEDs can be found near the lift lobby of HDB these days. Can also consider putting fire extinguishers for emergency purposes with so many fire incidents these days. Best if can buy one at home. Also believe there are people who went for the Fire Safety Managers course. Perhaps relevant agencies can consider employing them to perform routine checks on HDB, like the Dry rising main, corridors free from obstacles, conducting fire drills etc. In a way, can help ease the work for SCDF and also create jobs for locals as well.

I want to ask HDB, why can't HDB flats houses fitted with smoke detector and water sprinkler??? On top of that automatic PA system auto announcement to evacuation the residents. If tall offices buildings and industrial estate can have it, why not HDB?

Indicators and impending events did not happen overnight. These WORMS had been injected into SG systems for a few decades. Just wait and see the more to come... transport and traffic systems, Lifts systems, MRTs systems, PUB catchment systems, underground drainage systems, even under those barren reclaimed lands, surprises are waiting to unfold. All eyes must be deployed out and immediate actions to be taken. These are not kneeled jerks, these are triggers depicting impending warning Yellow!

I m wondering what the town council is working! this kind of fire when it is small can be extinguished! The town council must standby fire extinguisher! Having said so every house or even car must have at least one at home. It is not too expensive .

What have HDB or town councils been doing? Dry riser not working! They ought to inspect every hdb block. What if there's a worse fire than this? This fire is one of the worst so far.

It’s about time HDB follow the same regulatory building codes and carry out necessary upgrades to older eatates to align with current codes as far as possible. The older HDB does not comply to fire separation requirements, horizontally and vertically, and some, the requirement for alternative escape staircases. Clearly periodic fire audits have not been conducted to ensure fire fighting facilities are in good order. All these amongst other things that private developments are subjected to

Lets all blame the TC for not checking the DRY riser that has no water because it is dry! Lets fine all residents for not adhering to the 1.2 corridor guidelines but will backfire just because “i stay here 20 years no issue, why now have” everything is TC fault!
