I don't get it. what difference does it make for the cop to know your name They feel safer when they know your name? It's because when you say your name that establishes jurisdiction until then it's voluntary. but they have a gun and a low IQ so that's the problem

Here is the thing cops get called to an area for a suspicious individual recording. Make contact with individuals, they need to dispel the suspicion of any criminal wrongdoing doing going on. Part of dispelling that is identifying all parties involved. To make sure no one is wanted and they are who they say they are.

I get the "right to record", "no need to if", all of that but the thing that bugs me on these videos, the majority of the time ( let's say conservatively 80% of the time but it's probably much higher ) the "auditor" calls the police themselves stating a suspicious person. Side note the "auditor" is wrong. He said "he has to commit a crime before he can be asked for id" They can ask for an id if they had "reasonable articulable suspicion of committing a crime." and at that point you have to identify, failure to do so then your charged with failing to identify.
