I'm Japanese, and whenever I buy ice cream from a convenience store near my house, I usually eat it while walking. I think what this woman experienced was discrimination against foreigners.

Japan is notoriously racist. I lived there for 2 years and couldn't take it anymore. The worst experience I had was when a male cashier screamed at me that he hates Americans and throw the items and money at my face. He also threw a sign in the store at me. I didn't even do anything except walk up to the checkout. He was also yelling about how I'm a woman alone and I should be scared for my life. The other female employees there did nothing. At the time, I tried sharing it in expat communities but no one believed me 🤷🏻♀️so I left japan shortly after and never came back

These comments are honestly close minded. Japan takes their trash policy seriously including eating on the sidewalk- bring everything home or just finish eating at the store like everyone else. Its their country so please respect their culture

japan was great but they were quite racist. Legit we went to a sushi restaurant and they kicked us out because they said they have no rice left. It was legit hours before closing time and i saw pots of rice in the kitchen 😭
