Something I don’t think many Americans or conservatives seem to understand is that the high taxes in Canada pay for our public safety: subsidized daycare, free healthcare, unemployment benefits, clean streets… these literally disincentivize crime by removing pressures and stressors that aggravate people’s lives.

As an immigrant, I absolutely love how we say "we" when we are talking about living in Canada. It's instinctual, and most Canadians like it. Proud to be part of this fabric of this society!

It's against the law to hit a pedestrian and we wouldn't do it. Car thefts are ridiculous and I have already had one stolen already in Alberta! The first time in my life, because I left it on the street. I lived in Toronto! OK and also don't feel comfortable living in Alberta. I forgot to lock my bike up and it was gone! People are not as nice now as you think. I still try to be very kind, more so now but I'm seeing that you need to protect yourself! Nothing unprotected now!
