@therescuepawtners: Oreo was adopted back in 2022, but recently came back to the shelter in heartbreaking condition. Unfortunately, this isn’t rare. Many shelters, like the one I volunteer at, only require adopters to be 18 or older. This can often lead to situations where dogs are adopted without the stability or long-term support they really need. This is why some dogs end up as ‘rescue only’, it’s not to make things harder, it’s to try to protect them from ending up in this cycle again. Oreo deserved better the first time. Now, I am focused on making sure his next chance is truly forever. He is currently on microchip hold but once that’s up he will need a foster and rescue who can help rehabilitate him and show him life doesn’t have to be so hard.
