Yea, no. 8GB RAM is the bare minimum and will most likely crash solidworks. 16GB-32GB is recommended.

I agree with most of what he is saying but do yourself a favor for future proofing and either check to ensure the RAM is upgradable if you’re only going to get 8gb at time of purchase, or get at least 16gb or even 32gb if you are able. A lot of engineering software is very RAM heavy due to large project sizes and datasets.
