How much money did you loose by holding off 5 years? If you were to take ccp at 60 and strictly invest it. It would benefit more than waiting till 65 ..

If you’re single and don’t take it early, but die, say at 64, your estate gets a minimal death benefit and that’s it. Not another dime. Take it at 60 and invest it within an RRSP for as long as you can.

My husband took it at 60 and his CPP increased every year and now at 65 is exactly where he should be if he waited to 65. I say take it at 60 now a days every penny counts

Take it as soon as you can, my brother passed away at 64 and didn’t get anything back except the death benefit which is 2500. But taxes you pay in that is 600.00 so in actuality you only get 1800. After paying into in for 45 or more years 😡💔

Statically speaking, 62 is the age you should start taking cpp. There are a zillion graphs that show the break even point will be well into your seventies, when you consider the $12,000 your taking 3 years early😉

All true. The only thing I'd add to that another factor is one's health. If one isn't that healthy, take it early so at least you collect something for 10 yrs vrs nothing if you don't make it to 70. Goes to surviving spouse

I don't think im going to live a long life and am going to fully retire at 60. I have a union pension already . knees and back are getting ready bad and if I try to work to 65 70 I will be in a wheelchair and won't enjoy the rest of my life. im not doing that. if.i have to work after 60 I will work 1 day a week or everywhere week to make ends meet. I can make 500 a day tax free so won't hurt my tax income.
