why would you specify Apple Pay? at least in germany, the machines dont differentiate between phones. the phone simulates a credit card. so no matter if Google pay, apple pay or whatever, its a credit card. saying "apple pay" is unnecessary and pretentious

Only people in the US say „Apple Pay“ because the brand carries a lot of weight and it was marketed as that. Every else it‘s „tap to pay“ „contactless pay“

In Japan, the payment system machine seems different. In the U.S., whether it’s Apple Pay or a card tap, it all activates the same machine and is not complicated. But in Japan, you first have to decide how you want to pay, and then the cashier activates the corresponding machine. That’s why they ask you in detail how you want to pay.

Same in Germany. If you say Apple Pay in a store they will look at you like you’re an alien. You just have to say with card or credit card. Or „EC“

You can also pay with suica on apple pay in stores that accept suica. So even saying u want to pay with suica and thats still apple pay. So saying u want to pay with apple pay is not specific enough here

We visited America from the UK last year it felt like Apple Pay had become a proprietary eponym. I was confused using my android, initially not realising they were just referring to generic contactless. It feels like another Americanism.

Apple Pay is different than apple wallet. But they both use Tap and acts as a normal card.

ねー、これ私もずっと混乱してたの。個人的にクレカを最初に使い始めたのが海外で、ずっとapple payって言ってたから日本に帰ってきて最初戸惑った。んで、VISAのタッチとidでつくポイントも違うのが難しいところ。
