I shared my price — and her response was, 'But someone else is charging less.' I calmly explained that every makeup artist charges based on their own skill level, experience, effort, and the kind of products and prep they provide. I told her kindly, 'That’s okay — you can book her if that suits you better.' She got very upset. She said I was rude, and that I shouldn’t speak like this to a client. Even though I replied, 'I'm really sorry if I offended you — that wasn’t my intention at all,' she didn’t respond. And the truth is… I felt hurt too. Because being told ‘why are your prices different?’ or ‘someone else charges less’ — that’s offensive to the time, the effort, the love, and the years we artists put into our work. Makeup isn’t just about applying products. It’s about experience, attention to detail, quality tools, years of learning, and the heart we put into making someone feel beautiful. 💬 So please — whether it’s a makeup artist, a photographer, a designer, or anyone offering a service — don’t compare.
