There’s this game called slay the princess where the narrator says there’s this princess that you (the player) has to defeat in order to save the world, the narrator decides to not give you as much information abt the princess besides you needing to beat her, your decisions create what kind of proncess you will have to deal with after you slay her or let her go your first run, the second run, depending on how you treat her, she will be exactly how you envisioned her, if you prejudiced her as a monster, she will look like a monster, if you were nice to her, the narrator will force your hand to fight her or you and her will live forever, and the third run, depending on how you treated her, the fragment of every princess you created will be conjoined as one entity and she will either be your friend or foe

this is why The Thing is peak bc we never see it's 'true form' it only displays itself as near perfect copies and the only way to know who isn't who they say they are is a bloodtest or if it starts tweaking out

yall know how the backrooms kinda got unscary cause people wohld explain every little thing, well one of them was actually done REALLY well and it was a dude who knew more about you depending on how much you knew about him, making it so as you read the page you wanted to KEEP the info available to you UNKNOWN.

My story is where the monster can take any form (wow creativity..) but during the story the mc is usually surrounded by crowds of animals, people or idk plants and ANY of those living objects COULD be the monster you just don’t know which

I use this tip when drawing horror too!! :)) always hide my monsters in the dark so whoever sees it doesn't know exactly what they're looking at, it always makes my drawings 10x creepier

esparvially if your monster is related to supernatural or magical forces explaining exactly how and why it works kills a lot of the fear of the unknown wires into humans
