As a ex GI nurse, I have told so many people this and people never believe me. People don’t realise Imodium isn’t to treat diarrhoea caused by bugs / parasites!

My mother always taught me to give it 24 hours and by then the bacteria should have passed and then safe to take medication to stop it. Good on ya Mum 💕💕💕

I have chemo and take meds daily also, why does my nurse practitioner at the infusion center recommend imodium if I get diarrhea? I dont take it but why would they recognize if this could happen?

Toxic Mega Colon is one of my absolute FAVORITE things in the OR. It's insane how big intestines can get. I legit get excited when I'm told it's gonna be a mega colon.

When a tourist inevitably gets Cairo belly on visiting Egypt the pharmacy usually throws streptoquin at them. I have no idea what “ sfamethoxazole, phthalylsfathiazole, and streptomycin” are designed to treat but a full course usually sorts out any encounters with Egyptian water. Also as a PSA anyone visiting Egypt as a tourist, not only never have a salad, but use bottled water to brush your teeth!
