@quixotickingbar: 🍺✨ International Beer Day: From Ancient Sumer to Your Glass! ✨🍺 🍸🏴☠️🍍 Beer is one of humanity’s oldest creations. Over 4,000 years ago, the Sumerians were already brewing a thick, fermented porridge they drank through straws. Fast forward to the Middle Ages: Belgian and German monks refined the process, adding hops to give beer its bitterness and shelf life. They even called it “liquid bread” — safe, nourishing, and sometimes cleaner than water. And today, August 1st, we raise a glass to International Beer Day 🍻. First celebrated in California, August 5th, 2007, it was officially set in November 2012 to the first Friday of August. The goal? Share a pint with friends and honor the brewers, bartenders, and servers who keep the tradition alive. ⸻ 🍯🍺 DIY: Make Your Own Beer at Home (Simplified) Here’s a super simple homebrew recipe to try: Ingredients: • 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs) malt extract • 1 kg (2.2 lbs) sugar • 25 g hops • Beer yeast • 5 liters water Steps: 1. Boil 3 liters of water. Add malt extract + hops. Simmer 1 hour. 2. Add sugar, stir, then cool with 2 liters cold water. 3. Pour into a sanitized fermenter, add yeast. 4. Seal and let ferment 7–10 days. 5. Bottle, add a teaspoon of sugar per bottle for carbonation. 6. Wait 2 weeks… then enjoy your homemade beer 🍻. ⸻ #InternationalBeerDay #BeerLovers #CheersToBeers #HomeBrew #CraftBeer #BeerHistory #DrinkResponsibly #FromGrainToGlass #QKB
