@questionswithcrocker: For private practice owners, pricing adjustments are often necessary to keep pace with rising operational costs and inflation 📈 #veterinarian #vetmed #vettech #veterinarylife #vetclinic
I am not trying to jump to conclusions, but my clinic just raised prices on services. (Think like blood draw fees, injection fees etc. services that techs perform). However, none of our techs have gotten a raise, and neither has the support staff. To me the disconnect is in where the prices are being raised and for what reasons. If the cost of providing the service has increased, then the compensation for those providing that service should reflect that.

Oh so reception that made the appointment, the VA that took the history and told them what they needed, the VA that made/got the estimate approved, the tech that did the diagnostics, the VA that took the rads, the tech that made sure meds were in stock, the VA that filled it/ explained it, and reception that made sure the recheck was scheduled are nothing? But the doctor did the exam (based on our history)… and prescribed (from our stock). Oh and Let’s not forget when you’re hiring baby doctors and those staff TEACH THEM HOW TO BE A DOCTOR…

In what world are RVT’s or support staff getting paid a livable wage? RVT’s should be getting at bare minimum $35/hr but most don’t even get $20. If yall want to do it alone and you’re the ones that are profitable then don’t hire staff and do all by yourself. This field is so exhausting not only from the outside but also from within. 11yrs and I’m so burnt out.

As the CSR who booked those appointments, scheduled specialists that created more revenue, was helping fill meds so that you didn’t have to hire another assistant, helped hold animals and such, where were our raises based on production?

None of my “raises” ever came close to matching inflation.

People don’t seem to understand that the doctors and support staff have to live in this end stage capitalist hellscape, which means we have to get paid more, cause our food bills have gone up, our gas bills have gone up, and we still have gross amounts of debt

And then there's corporate hospitals paying doctors "production" on treatments they didn't do. Weird how we techs do the treatments from start to finish and don't see a dime of money back on it.

I started working at an ER in 2019. Since I was hired, to today, I have gotten a merit increase yearly, in addition to a cost of living increase (also almost yearly). If I stayed at day practice, I'd probably still only be making $0.50 more than minimum wage.

To me it’s a matter of transparency within the team. If people on staff are questioning price increases and compensation packages, I can only imagine how clients feel about it

Worked in vetmed for 10years. left and I now make over 3x's what I ever made in vetmed. If youre not a vet, its not a liveable wage, unless you have a spouse or roommates. I work at an auto factory, I made 85,000 last year. I miss the cats but $15 and hour doesn't give me a life

Mind you y’all will pay vets “production” for treatments they have 0 part of, that that techs prob had to convince the owner to do while WE went over the estimate. It’s a slap in the face
