Don’t be shocked at the size of Lake Michigan. It’s like an inland ocean.

Sleeping Bear Dunes, Glen Arbor, Traverse City, Charlevoix, Bay Harbor, Petoskey, Harbor Springs. Take the bike ride around the Mackinac Island. The water here looks like the Caribbean here. Sundresses, jeans, comfy clothes day & night. Food is so diverse here, eat whatever you’re in the mood for.

Midwest people are nicer and in general, more casual dress compared to the coasts. Wear comfy shoes on Mackinac and rent a bike. Mission Point resort!

As a lifelong Michigander, I’m calling it now. You will absolutely decide to move here LOL. Grand Rapids is Beer City USA as there are soooo many craft breweries. Faygo soda, is Michigan made and comes in sooo many fun flavors. Mackinac Island has the best fudge in the country. Michigan in October is the absolute most gorgeous time. Apple orchards, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, donuts and cider. Picturesque fall colors.

We are so chill, especially where you are going. That area is mostly our in state vacation spots. Mackinaw Island us known for their fudge. Pasties are a northern Michigan food to try. Traverse City is known for their cherries. There are a few wineries up that way. Taquaminan Falls (spelling) is amazing beautiful in the UP and not terribly far of a drive from the bridge.

Amy :
When you go to Mackinac Island, drive over the bridge and take the ferry from St Ignace. Lines are much shorter than from Mackinaw City.

Dark Sky Park is just west of Mackinaw on the peninsula and is one place you can go that has the most incredible star-gazing east of Colorado. So dark and the stars are so bright

Pasties are big in the UP because alot of English miners came to the UP to mine copper. Also, how do we speak? It's Michigan, not some exotic vacation. We speak English and wear normal western clothes. I say this as a Michigander. Also, we're peninsulas, with over 11,000 inland lakes, everywhere is a "lakes" region. 😂

Michigan weather can change temperature drastically in the same day, like 0C-30C. You'll want layers so you can be bundled up in the cold morning then shed throughout the day, and then add back on in the evenings. Look up the weather forecast before your trip at least so you know what to expect.
