In Canada we have a ten dollar a day program. Full time daycare all 5 days of the week is only 200 Canadian dollars. What is happening in the US is unbearable.

Can you share how much you & your husband make? Or maybe average salaries for your roles? I think that would put this into better perspective for your followers.

Highest cost for day care where I live is ~$170/child/month. And that is maximum. How you guys manage is a mystery.

Thank you for recognizing the low pay for childcare workers. As someone with two degrees in early childhood, I’ve given decades to the very specialized, high-quality care of other people’s children. It’s been my life’s work from which I have recently retired. The only way I was able to survive financially was having a husband who had a career that actually paid him his worth. We have the same number of degrees and the same length of work history - it’s just that my career in early childhood isn’t worth as much as his career as an environmental engineer for a huge chemical company. I have helped families raise their children and provided a service that our society cannot live without, yet isn’t valued at all by society. I’m proud of my degrees and the research and hard work that I have put into the field of early childhood, and every infant, toddler, Preschool, and PreK classroom of which I have been fortunate to lead. Thank you for the support and recognition!

Yikes. We pay $40/day per kid for a babysitter. Preschool + Daycare here is from 7a-5p and it’s $192/week.

I’m Canadian, and this makes my $456 monthly bill for my one child look like a joke. Curious to know if your government subsidizes childcare based on income? Would be interested to hear.

Expect to pay about the same as the first price you pay throughout their time at daycare since room rate goes down but the yearly increase basically eats the difference.

I had a toddler and a preschool. Tuition at my kids preschool in Cupertino CA $3300 and $2630. $6k per month! 😳 Not including my infant in home daycare. How do people do it?! I had some state help but got so lucky to even get in.

My kid is moving rooms when new pricing goes into effect so our price is just staying the same instead of actually going down lol.

This is how I know I’ve followed you one year at least? How are we here again. My kids are 12,14 and 18. I’ve been out of the child care game since 2019. It’s a relief, yes, but I swear that money is still going out to the door.

They had in our handbook an annual increase of 5% BUT following COVID etc, they started making additional increases.
In Seattle went from $1850/month infant to $2300/month preschool in 4 years 😱
