@jennalabarre: Thankfully I’m not talking about my own parents or in-laws. We have good relationships on both sides. But I’m so sick of seeing content out there that implies grandparents have rights to their grandchildren simply because they’re the grandparent. That relationship is earned.
“I experienced your parenting. Let’s not repeat that. “

Grandparents have zero right to access to their grandchildren. If you want access to your grandchildren, have a good relationship with their mom.

Nope. Her babies her rules. The older generation has such a hard time respecting rules and boundaries

My mom threatened court for grandparent’s rights… I told her to try. It’s been almost 11 years

fun fact: grandparents rights are not a thing UNLESS grandma has had sole legal custody of said children for an amount of time.

Why are there so many young women having such issues with family members? Seems it’s fair game to withhold the children when you can’t control how your in laws or parents don’t conform. These poor grandbabbies.

I have the c-section scar, I make the rules. and I no longer allow people who weaponize their presence around my child.

My cousin went to court and actually WON visitation to her granddaughter. Every other weekend. Grandparents rights DO exist in certain states.

Future MIL ignored boundaries around revealing the gender and visitation. She know wonders why she only sees my daughter once a month, isn’t allowed to help more and I don’t talk to her directly. Maybe because I don’t trust you and you’ve done nothing to regain it.

If you can’t respect the mother, you do not get access to her children

My MIL is slowly losing access to our daughter every time she visits. For ever boundary crossed I lay another brick in the wall. I hate it so much, but I won’t teach my daughter that just because someone is related to you that you have to allow them to treat you poorly.

I met someone once whose parents took them to court over "grandparent rights" because they didn't get to see their grandkids as much as they'd like. once everything started the judge just goes "why are we here??" and dismissed the case lol
