I knew it! In 5th grade, I wrote a report on Ulysses S. Grant and mentioned how he loved cucumbers and vinegar. My teacher tried correcting me to say it was just a pickle, but I knew that they had pickles back then and it didn't say pickles. 😂

He died of throat cancer not long after finishing his personal memoir due to throat cancer. By that time in his life, his family was impoverished, but the book was a best seller and supported them after his passing, which is what he wanted. I haven't finished reading the first volume yet. But he was a rather humble man
