Hi dietitian here! I recommend seeing your own dietitian for personalized care. However, It is quite common for appetite to decrease while on dialysis. In the case of PD the dialysate contains dextrose (sugar) which does provide additional calories and may contribute to your appetite. If you’re noticing shifts though, you may consider small frequent meals, protein supplements as liquids may be easier to get down, and talking with your doctor about an appetite stimulant. I recommend monitoring your weight and noting any shifts. Good luck!

I have IBS and gastroperisis, I stuggle SO much with my appetite because of it. I eat small meals a lot. Keeping snacks within reach really helped too. I also meal prepped a lot of different foods to fit any cravings I have and I always added a lot more flavour to things.

I just went through this to the point of dehydration. I had to be hospitalized. Don’t let it go too long without doctors help.
