Twirling hair and picking ears are early signs of anxiety. (I’m an adolescent trauma counselor) you can’t just tell her to stop, that’ll cause more anxiety if she accidentally does it and then is nervous about you seeing it and possibly getting you upset and being called out. Ask her what might be the reason for it “does it relax you?” “Are you nervous about something?” I’m only saying this because you said she went from one stim to another. Stimming, is short for self-stimulating behaviors, refers to repetitive movements or actions that people use to manage emotions. So yeah I think if she continues doing it or finds a different stim to actually sit with her and ask her those questions. Just trying to help. 🙂
