@kelsewhatelse: What are you supposed to do when your good friends are having a kid-free wedding? Throw a fake wedding, of course. The couple getting married has been a huge part of our kids' lives over the past six years. They’ve gone out of their way to be flexible so our little ones can stick to their bedtime routines. They join our big group trips every year, even with all the chaos that comes with traveling with kids. They never miss a birthday party and always show up with the coolest gifts. It's safe to say our children are completely obsessed with them and beyond excited that they’re getting married. But they’re not invited to the real wedding. And thank goodness. I fully support that choice. I can’t wait to go without my kids and make it a date night. One night it hit me. Why not throw two weddings? And then the next logical step was, what’s better than a fake wedding for kids? A fake wedding designed by the kids. The kids love this couple so much that spending a whole day planning their wedding felt like the most fitting way to honor them. I personally can’t wait to see how the wedding mad libs script plays out, what song they choose for the bride to walk down the aisle to, and what vows the bride and groom will exchange. The vows are a surprise to everyone but me, and I have a feeling we’re all going to get a good laugh. Before planning anything, I made sure to get the green light from the couple. Not only were they on board, they immediately bought outfits just for the fake wedding. Everyone in our group is in on it and excited to see it come to life. It’s a win-win. The kids get to attend the wedding of their favorite couple, and a few months later, the adults get to attend the real one and enjoy a kid-free night out.
