Weird that it’s been adopted as gentrifier by the city and is actively planted. It’s the namesake of the book from the 30s “A Tree Grows in Brooklyn” and in the book is a signature of poor immigrant neighborhoods.

That’s Japanese Pagoda/Chinese Scholar Tree (styphnolobium japonica), they’re not technically invasive but are non-native. Definitely a good question to why they’re still on the approved tree list (but they aren’t related to Tree of Heaven ailanthus altissima)
