Rescued this woodpecker from a crow attack. Thought it was dead but when I picked it up it was still breathing. Laid it down to recover but didn’t hold out much hope 🥺 Progress - It moved into a sitting position after about half an hour. I moved it to a more sheltered spot as it was getting blasted by the wind. It kept lifting its head but then appearing to fall back to sleep again. *SSPCA advise to take it to your local vets…. *Local vets said they would only put it down…. *Phoned an exotic vet based in Fife Zoo and they were willing to look at it. I put it into a box and got it into the car but it suddenly started to make a lot of commotion. Took the box out again and lifted the lid to check on it… It took a minute or so but it flew away back to the woods. Hopefully it will recover completely 🤞 It was a very stressful couple of hours! #wildliferescue #woodpecker
