My mother wasn't a perfect person but she was an amazing mother because she learned 1st hand what a bad mother was and did the opposite with her children. She battled her childhood trauma from her abusive mother while being the best mom. I miss her so much... She went above and beyond for us while not dealing with her trauma in a healthy way and was a closet alcoholic and that ultimately took her from us. We didn't know until it was too late

When I was younger my Mum told me that she was my Mummy and not my friend. I’m 35 now and she is both my Mum and my best friend. Children need structure, discipline, unconditional love and protection and respect and that’s something that a friend cannot do
