I always tell my clients when I got mine done I was terrified but it was genuinely my least painful out of all my piercings. But even with that, having to keep your tongue stuck out as someone stabs an inner muscle of the mouth is terrifying no matter what. And I have 40 piercings and I always get the same anxious feeling, every single time. It’s not really more or less depending on which piercing, I get the same stomach pit every time followed by relief and excitement.

I’m covered in tattoos. I play roller derby. I’ve had 3 babies… but I have fainted at pretty much every piercing I’ve had post teen years 🤣

I was 15 in highschool, the piercer had me ring my mum to give permission.. I was 9 when I had my nose pierced, belly button at 12, bottom lip at 17

Fear is fear. It doesn’t have to be rational. But I feel like having a needle coming at you is a pretty normal fear for most people. 😅

I can sit for hours for a tattoo and I legitimately was sweating and tearing when I got my piercings. I wouldn’t let my daughter get hers done til she was 18. After that I had no grounds bc her dad has one lol.

As a Dental Assistant & someone with a lot of piercings I highly advise against tongue piercings. They ruin your teeth. I’ve seen so many chipped & broken teeth, enamel & gum damage from them.

20 years ago it was popular for teens to have a tongue piercing and a vibrating tongue ring. Obv those were used for a very specific reason. Def should’ve had better rules in place in shops back then.

My entire lower front of my mouth is implants & im missing part of my jaw bone. -From a tongue piercing. It rubbed my gums off, damaged my roots & lead to a bone infection. Biggest mistake of my life. & I’ve done some dumb sht.

I got my tongue pierced when I was 16, but this was also 2006 piercings and tattoo culture have changed since then. And I don’t have it pierced now at 35 . I respect the fact that you only allow 18 up for the tongue piercing.

When I was in hs, tongue piercings where the trend. It was beyond annoying those girls who did nothing but play with their tongue rings. Told my sister I was going to ripe hers out if she didn't stop clicking the damn thing. I got mine done when I was 23, my little sister was with me and told me to shut up and sit in the damn chair. 🤣 Was very nervous. Had that piercings so long, I only noticed it when I took out the jewelry to go to the dentist.
