when people first walk into the church I am a member of, they see the stained glass, massive pipe organ and beautiful vestments that the pastors wear and think "oh this place is super traditional and conservative" (which is synonymous with rigid and judgmental). Then they realize one of the pastors is a woman and start to get a little unnerved. Then they open the bulletin and see the announcement that the Gay Straight Alliance is holding a luncheon celebrating the fact that almost 2/3 of the congregation are now official members of the GSA ... but even if you're not a member you are welcome to come eat pizza, drink HEB ice tea and grab a rainbow frosted cupcake. I love my church.
