My exact situation, Alhamdulilah for being born Muslim, but it was a struggle growing up. I knew I was Muslim but didn’t know a thing about Islam. We never prayed, only fasted during Ramadan, never ate pork, but still drank alcohol. I thought it was normal until I was guided to Islam. I would always talk to Allah SWT before going to bed, and then He called me back to Islam. He guided me to prayer. Alhamdulilah, I started praying two Ramadans ago and became closer to Islam. I started praying regularly, dressing more modestly, and reading the Qur’an. Now, Alhamdulilah, I have been wearing the hijab for one month. It hasn’t been easy, especially with family constantly asking me why I changed so suddenly over the past two to three years and why I became religious all of a sudden. At first, they weren’t that supportive, but I started praying tahajjud, and later, Alhamdulilah, they became more supportive and accepted that it was my decision. Now, in sha Allah, one day when I get married and have a family of my own, I will introduce Islam to them and raise my kids as true Muslims.

Yes. I was born Muslim. Did practice until my 20s. But I have not been the best at it.

Alsalaam 3alaykum sister. Before I start, I want to share that when a woman chooses to wear the hijab with TRUE modesty, I consider her to be amongst the most amazing women on earth… Nack to your question: I’m on that spectrum. Growing up, Islam was more ritual than true belief. I did learn to pray but wasn’t really encouraged to, we went to Friday prayers, and even though I listened intently, I didn’t take it seriously. Sometimes we fasted, but many times excuses were used to not fast… There were many inconsistencies: family drank alcohol, no understanding of what hijab is really for (in many cases, no hijab), it was acceptable to listen to very explicit music, & we thought that “extreme” muslims were those not like us. We were encouraged to pursue more & more money and the trappings of this Dunya… I was like that for nearly 30years and quite “successful” in the eyes of this Dunya. But I was unhappy… Then Alhamduli’Allah I was blessed with a wife who was close to Allah in her beliefs. She encouraged me to do everything right. Besides the basics (fasting, prayer and learning the Quran), we now focus on the hereafter and give away all of what we make beyond a basic living. Now I know what the hijab is really for: leaving the vanity of the Dunya behind and dedicating oneself entirely to Allah. And helping those around you to make it easier to not be distracted by the trappings of physical desire and the subtle but ongoing draw it leads to (of deception, competition, hunger for more money, power, etc…). Alhamduli’Allah for Allah’s guidance. Alhamduli’Allah everything… 🤲🏼

Finding Islam on your own is the most beautiful thing in the world. Because then you truly see the beauty of it and fall in love with Islam. Finding your way back to Allah swt during the hardest times is a blessing in disguise ❤️Ameen

Yes I would always learn how to pray with a video and quit after a week and stop when it’s Ramadan or Eid but now I’m learning the Quran and the meaning of it I’m researching about our prophets and I’m also trying to convert others to Islam I’m now also praying and I’m learning slowly I can almost stop using a video I feel happier and I’m trying to wear a niqab since i like it.
