@nomadicstoryteller: Rage Against the Regime, Defend Due Process 50501 Greenville Protest Today, hundreds gathered at Falls Park in Greenville to stand in solidarity with the immigrant community and to demand constitutional due process for all people, not just citizens. The protest, organized by SC chapter of 5050@We the American People ❌👑 50501 SC and Indivisible Upstate SC , was a direct response to the local sheriff’s quiet expansion of the county’s participation in ICE’s 287(g) program, done without public input or council approval. This policy gives deputies federal immigration powers, bypasses due process, and places immigrant families, many of whom have lived and contributed here for years, at risk of detention and deportation. From the event page: “Across the country, and right here in Greenville County, we are witnessing alarming attacks on the foundational rights that protect all people, not just citizens.” Organizers called for: – Due process for every person – Transparency in local government – An end to racial profiling and ICE collaboration – Rejection of projects like “Alligator Alcatraz” photos by me/Humanizing Through Story
