In rescue, trying is everything. It’s the quiet decision to show up for a life others may have already counted out and sometimes, that’s all it takes. There are many moments that remind us why we never give up and this is certainly one of them… When Dandelion first came to us, the path ahead was anything but clear. She was abandoned, injured and became suddenly paralyzed. We were told that she would most likely never walk again. Her back legs had become severely atrophied in such a short amount of time, she had significant muscle wasting and no feeling in her legs. The road ahead felt uncertain and there were no guarantees. All we knew is that regardless of the outcome, we had to try. There were voices that doubted Dandelion but those voices were not the loudest. Because so many more of you stood beside her! You believed in her when it was uncertain. You held hope with us when hope felt fragile and you drowned out the doubt with compassion. Every cat deserves a fighting chance, no matter what, and with your support, we set out to make sure Dandelion got one. And for everyone who stood with Dandelion along the way thus far - who have supported her, rooted for her, donated to her medical care, shared her story and refused to give up on her with us - we know she is deeply grateful. Because you are part of this success story! You are the reason she is here today and walking! You heard that right! Dandelion is now standing and taking steps. She is defying the odds and blooming right before our eyes! She’s wobbly and she still falls over after a few steps but she gets right back up and keeps taking more steps in the right direction. When she had every reason to give up, she never did. She is full of unwavering strength and resilience. Dandelion has completed her course of antibiotics and hasn’t needed pain management any longer. She is continuing on her steroid medication and we have scheduled a follow-up appointment with the neurologist at our local speciality hospital next week. She has a long journey ahead but we are so grateful for her progress thus far. #catrescue #rescuecat #paralyzedcat #catlover #animalrescuestory
