Growing up in the 60’s, over the bridge on the No. Shore, the South End was sketchy, low income and crime ridden. This was before Urban Renewal and that changed many places in or near Boston. It seems very beautiful now. Enjoy your time.

The South End has had a great renewal, but if you go too far in the wrong direction, it changes fairly dramatically.

Southend has a lot of problems with undesirables relieving themselves in your backyard. Sleeping and getting high on your front steps. Nice to visit during the day. Wouldn’t catch me dead there when the sun goes down.

I lived in Quincy and worked in Boston in the 80s. I love that you’re bringing the city and area so much positivity. I never understand why Florida gets so much of the UK attention. Btw I lived in Coral Springs Florida 1999-2006 so I like Florida too. I know you grew up going to Florida, but otherwise what is said in the UK that makes Florida seem like the perfect destination when there’s so much in the US to see and do and places to live. I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up in Virginia oh, and also I lived in Charleston SC 1988 to 1995 and love it there also. Guess I’m just curious about the fixation on Florida.

The issue with the South End is Mass&Cass Methodone mile within close proximity...lots of drugs & crime in that area. Personally, I wouldnt want to live in that area even though it has beautiful homes & great restaurants.

Originally from North Carolina, but was in Boston last week & there is a restaurant called “Buttermilk & Bourbon”- not quite as good as in the south but it comes VERY close to good Southern food! Not sure if you’ve been there before, but def worth checking out!

I lived on Upton and tremont in the early 90s. My favorite restaurant was anchovies. Wonder if it is still there ? I co managed a furniture store on Mass ave.

Notice all the basement and first floor apartments have bars on the windows...that's to protect you at night while you sleep! As the rental prices decrease...the danger factor increases...keep that in mind in the South end!
