My 65 year old mom gave her retirement away to a scammer she met on match when she was in her 50’s. First relationship out of an abusive relationship, and this person led her on for over two years. There’s certainly personal responsibility at play here, but dating sites need to be held accountable as well.

15.7 million and you can’t come up with a better answer than that?? “We don’t police our users’ private conversations” would be so easy to say. Or “unfortunately, scams can be perpetrated on any communication platform”

They make it so expensive to use their products that it’s no wonder so many scammers use it. How else are you going to recoup your investment? When they bought Hinge, they made everything pay to play and it went downhill fast.

I’m married & haven’t dated since the 90s. I suggest returning to the model we used back then: limited character classifieds, wo pics. Yes, it was high effort, but it forced one to contact interesting prospects and not eliminate ppl based on photos or dumb prompts. It was too high effort for most scammers.
