"Caregivers, staying strong isn't about holding it all in. It's these 5 things." The shift ends, but most of us keep working it in our heads all night. I used to hold it all in for 17 years. Feeling it isn't weakness; carrying it forever isn't strength. “Caregiver, being strong does NOT mean carrying everything home with you.” For years, I thought being a strong caregiver meant I could handle everything. The long shift. The difficult attitude. The emergency. The extra responsibility. And then I would carry all day in my head. sleep. So I made my own door. When I close my office for the night, that's my line. I don't take the worry to bed with me anymore. I'm not perfect at all five of these. Number 2 still takes practice. But I've learned that a strong mind isn't the one that never breaks. It's the one that knows when to put the weight down. mental strength is not how much you can carry. It is knowing when something is no longer yours to carry. Some things belong to the shift. Some things belong to management. Some things belong to other people. And some things simply need to be left right where they happened. I can care deeply without carrying everything. I can be compassionate without absorbing everybody's emotions. And I can do my job well without allowing the job to follow me into my peace. Which one is hardest for you? Drop the number in the comments 👇🏾 Save this for the day you need it, and share it with a caregiver who's carrying too much. 💜 #HealingForCaregivers #FollowMeAcrossTheBridge #CaregiverMentalHealth #CaregiverLife #MentalHealthMatters
