I love that this could be an unintentional joke about how tech works in 40k. It's a common standard that older tech for the Imperium tends to be better than the current stuff because they either lost the methods to make it or water it down for mass production. So finding a possibly ancient regular double barreled shotgun that somehow does a frankly comical amount of damage is a hilariously unintentional joke about this shotgun.

The double barrelled shotgun in the original Doom series (aka the super-shotty) was a very powerful and iconic upgrade to the original Doom shotgun that was inexplicably powerful despite being just a double barrel shotgun that fired both barrels at once. Realistically it would not be better than the default pump action shotgun

on a bounty hunter arbitrator, that armor penetration is a suggestion lmao you get such a high crit rate and armor penetration that everything is wiped out. combine with the gunnery shield that makes shotgun reloads free (chef kiss)

The Gunnery Shield allows you to reload any weapon for 0ap as many times as you want. It is fantastic for this shotgun.

it's so good when Fulminating shot only takes 1 ammo, so you can use it twice per turn ignoring it's AP costs, and on an arbite with the reloading shield it's so damn broken

a bit of a stretch but the Orks rukkatrukk squigbuggy has a double barrel weapon data sheet and it gets 2 shots hits on a (D6) 5 or higher has a strength of 4 (so if this is fired at a space marine will do damage on a (D6) 4 or higher) and has 0 armor penetration.
