People are forgetting the dialogue in this part of the game. When John arrives in Mexico he gets robbed by some bandits in the first town, but he ends up taking them out and that’s when you meet Landon Ricketts, a famous gunslinger. Ricketts is teaching John how to improve his shooting and that’s when they begin discussing about the situation in Mexico about the revolution. John said “another revolution?” And Ricketts replies with “yeah, another guy promising freedom just like the last one, the Mexican people been fighting since the Spanish”. So to John and other people it’s another pointless fight, it’s just for a person who promises people freedom, just to end up doing the same thing they were fighting for after the epilogue. There’s even a newspaper detailing what the rebel leader becomes, a ruthless dictator that spends his country money on materialistic things. So John just focuses on the mission of saving the family and not the country of Mexico which I don’t blame him.

john is actually a realistic cowboy from that time, and rdr1 is alot more grim and realistic overall. I like arthur and rdr2 but it is far from realistic
