story points not equating to time was always a farce anyway.

I HATE Poker for points like how am I supposed to know how long a task in a project I don't even know will take for another person? in the end u just throw out a random number hoping u aren't the outlier so you don't have to defend your "opinion" in front of the entire group.
even less with the weird counting used (fibonachi). and then it takes forever that meeting😭

What if we just trust the people implementing stuff to estimate their work 🙄. Then just keep track of their estimates vs delivery times and then create an average modifier and apply it to all their estimates instead

real ones know you just roll with it. vibe with the team, agree on some made up numbers, then when you fail to meet some time goal you didn't know about, just say stuff about production issues or whatever. not worth the energy it takes to hate

So much confusion in the comments is wild. This is why I don't like agile, every company uses its own form mostly tailed to management instead of a tool helping improve the dev process and product quality

changing a banner is literally ZERO complexity though 🤷🏻♂️also, it should be some content managers job, not a Dev's

Story points do not equal time. I will scream this till my deathbed, and I hope to God it ends up in my tombstone. Story points equal complexity. If something is pointed at five and I give it to my primary principal level engineer who's been on this project for five years, of course he can knock it out in 15 minutes. If I give it to anybody else, it might be five weeks. However, it was rated low priority, so I'm giving it to the lowest level engineer, which means you can expect it at.... about the end of the quarter or so.

if I'm in my code base, I will tell you how many hours it will take. if it's in someone else's they will tell you hours. the pm can figure out their shirt size and story points on their own.

The only agile component my team still does is the stand-up because everyone can use it as a micro management tool on the devs, not even a real stand-up anymore.

Story Points can equal time or they can not equal time
The definition of what points means just also needs to be shared and agreed up on thoughout the team.
Teams should have example stories with points in order to help developers new to the team understand this teams conception of points and they probably should attempt a few pointing poker sessions as an observer before voting so they understand how the team values points.
