Giant insects isn't anything new, in the cretaceous period. They could grow bigger, then the bugs of today. This was because of the oxygen, at this period of time. Seems anything back then, that didn't get big didn't last very long. What If the oxygen in that area, Is making the spiders bigger. Maybe not as big as the cretaceous period, but big enough to be a threat to humans.

Ive heard stories of giant spiders in the badlands growing up. always belived them. never saw one myself driving through there tho, thankfully. spiders scare me 😭
