Some dogs are overlooked because they're older. Some because they have special needs. Ada has both. When we heard there was a blind dog who had been sitting at the @Greenville Humane Society since the beginning of March, we knew we had to meet her. Today, she got a break from the shelter. Even though it was nearly 100° which kept our outside adventures short, we made sure she stayed cool, and let her enjoy something every dog deserves...peace. She took multiple naps throughout the day curled up in the back of the truck. For a few hours, she didn't have to listen to barking or wonder what was happening around her. She could just rest. Ada is 8½ years old and blind, but those aren't the things that define her. She's incredibly sweet, gentle, loving, and still has so much life left to live. She doesn't need your sympathy, she just needs someone willing to love her. The shelter has been especially hard on her. Being blind makes the constant noise and unfamiliar surroundings even more stressful, and she's becoming increasingly anxious in her kennel. She would likely do best in a calm home without other pets or young children, where she can learn her surroundings and finally feel safe. No dog should spend their golden years waiting behind kennel doors. We fell in love with Ada today, and we know someone else will too. If you've ever thought about giving a senior dog or a special-needs dog a chance, please let Ada be the one. She may not be able to see you...but she'll love you with her whole heart. You can meet Ada at the Greenville Humane Society in Greenville SC. Please help us share her story so the family she's been waiting for can finally find her.
