put it in to perspective, if you 500k in kwsp and you life for 20 years after retirement, you can only spend about 2k a month for the money to last

Always give people the options to choose.. Making it mandatory means you think you're on moral high ground as if you know best for everyone.. 20% of population are active EPF members.. Gov should ask yourself why is it so? Bad policies/decisions/executions/political will?

I'll support this if they give an option to the account holders. the holders will decide whether to go for monthly payment (which can be good also) or they can withdraw totally upon reaching 55. give rakyat the option and we will all support this

It should be an option, which is what is already being implemented right now. So, clearly this proposal by the govt is trying to make it mandatory.
And, for those with low EPF savings, can they survive on the monthly payouts, if you try to stretch it beyond 5yrs? 48,000 lump sum depleted in 5yrs, is about 800/mth. That is not a lot. Stretch it to 10yrs, even with the compunding annual interest, how much can they get every month?

If the objective is genuinely to support those in need, the policy should be targeted at accounts with lower balances. However, it appears the primary focus is instead directed toward accounts with higher balances. 🤣🤣🤣

less money in KWSP or exhaust savings in KWSP do not equal to no money at all. people may have own savings. this finding is not exhaustive and bias

what's likely gonna happen is people gonna take it all out, spend it all, blame gov, and then beg for help. so is the gov suppose to tax us more in that case? I think this is already a pretty decent move, especially making it mandatory.

EPF from day one is our money. Let the KWSP do their jobs, government don’t intervene. Last year 2024, you already requested KWSP pay higher than they expected. If you really want foreign worker to contribute fix your working visa problem.

because type C still have plenty of moneys / savings in their epf.. why must pay them yearly dividends?.? if the mandatory withdrawal is enforced. this will force the moneys to leave the epf . fair for the rest
