Does Paul perhaps refer to a later enlightenment? He talks about himself dying and Christ living within him. Are we sure he doesn’t see the second coming as an internal transformation that he hasn’t yet experienced or realized ?

Rue Ross :
Yet he uses the term “justified” to speak of having our sins forgiven, clothed in Christs Righteousness, and being fully accepted by God because of the work of Jesus Christ in our place. So if you asked Paul, “have you been justified” (which conveys the same idea that evangelicals do when they say “have you been saved”) Paul would say, “yes, of course”

I am beginning to really like your analysis. I think you are on the right track. I pray that you also experience the Lord in addition to knowing about Him. God bless you 🙏

That is why he said on Rome 4:34 Rom 8:24. For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has?

A lot of scriptures align with that. Paul actually said he had not yet “attained…” The more we read, the more things like that start to stand out. Like, “…you have been saved, ‘IF’…” 🙏🏼

I didn’t hear Christians use the term ‘saved’ until I started going to a Charismatic church. The expression used in the Reformed churches was ‘becoming a Christian’.

If you have doctrinal problems in the Bible, the Holy Quran has solved all of these doctrinal problems, as the Quran says that everything about which the Children of Israel differed in the Torah, the Quran explains it to them.

@God's Steward Paul sees salvation as a multi-dimensional reality:
Already given at conversion (justification, forgiveness),
Currently being lived out (sanctification),
Yet to come (glorification, final deliverance from wrath).
I think he’s right to say that Paul often emphasizes a future salvation, but it is incorrect to claim that Paul never speaks of salvation as a past event.
In fact, in Romans 8, Paul says that we are saved in hope, and what we hope for, we do not yet see.
And the author of the Epistle to the Hebrews speaks of believers who are waiting for Jesus Christ at His Second Coming for their salvation.
He’s an atheist, but I think he’s trying to deconstruct the “once saved, always saved” doctrine.
