On this #worldmentalhealthday I wanted to share my struggles briefly . I do open up about this on a regular basis over on TikTok , how I’m feeling , the medication I’ve chosen and things I’ve done to try and improve my mental health. It’s a journey for everyone and medication isn’t always what people want or chose, there are other options out there . I chose medication and it took a while to find the correct one that works with me . Since leaving my job , life has became a lot easier and less stressful , I’ve even halved the dose I’m on. I keep healthy , eat healthier and enjoy more time with my mum . It’s not a quick fix but it’s something that aids my recovery from this and being aware of that is the main thing. I like to talk about it openly as that helps me , I know there is a stigma about it being embarrassing , especially for men. I hope that changes and you’ll probably realise most people don’t know and will be willing to help if you opened up . Yes it’s something that rears its head all the time through life and various reasons but I always say tomorrow is a new day and things do get better in time, we just need a helping hand sometimes. Everyone deals with it in their own way, and some people like myself bottle it up but the storm will pass. It doesn’t stop me getting on with life , although some days it was hard to get out of bed and paint that smile on, looking back you don’t think it’s going to get better or easier , which in that moment is very dark until you realise how far you’ve came. My dad passing within 6 months of diagnosis was really hard to deal with at 21, whilst already going through problems with anxiety etc, to add my mums diagnosis and the last 10 years onto that has been really challenging . I know what this disease is yet to bring but I’m mentally in a better position to cope with it and tackle it head on. In the meantime I just want to be healthy , happy and enjoy the time with my mum I have and make the effort to look after myself whilst I’m at it . I know many other carers out there will have been affected mentally with the task and stress it brings , so please speak to someone or go to your dr for help. 🥰 #MentalHealth
