yes the sensors are underneath the road on a constant loop, and when a vehicle drives over it, it disconnects that loop and triggers the lights that there is a car waiting

Yes there are magnetic metal detecting sensors, you can see them in the road as you come upto the traffic lights, they are like big cut square lines. There are no cameras to watch your car, but there are traffic monitoring cameras to control the overall flow of traffic during peak & off peak traffic times.

There are induction senses in the road at traffic lights but also lights are on a timed sequence during peak traffic times to help control the flow

at some traffic lights they have sensors in the bitchumen that are I think 4 long steel skinny rods or pieces of steel that pick up wieght I presume and will change the lights when a car pulls up. you can see the steel strip's in the road. that's why sometimes on one of them intersections if a car pulls up to far back(like a car and a half) and the light won't change because they aren't on it and the car behind them beeps them to move forward. or it looks like motorbikes don't seem to pick it up.

When you stop at the lights there are senses laid in the ground at the stop lights once your car drives over them it picks up the information downloaded to the computer which operates the traffic lights

there are sensor loops in the road often just back from the stop lines, if you open your eyes and look you'll see the cuts in the bitumen where the wiring has been placed, the loops run back to the controller nearby. So for all the ppl that stop 10 metres back from the line......

Yes, there used to be, not much anymore. Usually on very not busy sides of intersections. So they werent triggered unless people were actually at the lights.

Yes, they’re under the tarmac. Next time you’re at lights you’ll see the lines in the road where the car closest to the front will come to a stop.

The sensors are on the road. That's why when you stop at a light, they tell you to stop at the line. That puts you in the sensor
