@markwilmson: Watch this before quitting your job. Thinking about quitting your job so you can “finally focus” on your job search? Don’t do it. Not yet. There’s a trap waiting for you on the other side, and most people walk right into it. Because here’s what nobody tells you… It’s actually harder to get hired when you’re unemployed. I know that sounds backwards, but it’s 100% true. Hiring managers will deny it all day long, but the research says otherwise: 📉 It takes 2 to 3 times longer to get hired when you’re unemployed. 📉 The longer you’re unemployed, the fewer interviews you’ll get. 📉 Hiring isn’t fair, it’s biased. And yes… some employers see your unemployment as a red flag, even if it wasn’t your fault. Why? Because most companies don’t select candidates, they eliminate them. They’re looking for reasons to cut people, not keep them. It’s like dating on Love Is Blind…you’re trying to be chosen, but the minute something’s “off,” they ghost you. Same thing here. You’re a maybe… until you’re not. If you want to leave your job, here’s what to do: ✅ Start your search while you’re still employed. You’ll show up more confident. You’ll negotiate better. You’ll have options Plus, it gives you leverage—because nobody’s desperate. And if you’re telling yourself: “I just need time to focus on the job search…” Let me stop you right there. You don’t need more time. You need better strategy. Because job searching 8 hours a day will burn you out fast. Instead, use part of your energy to: - Earn a certification - Volunteer for something that builds your skills - Grow your network or side hustle Do something that builds your value while you quietly line up your next move. So, tell me in the comments. Have you ever quit a job too soon? Or wished you held on longer? 👇 Let’s talk about it. The link to my full interview training course is in my bio. And follow for more real-world interview strategies that get you hired. #jobinterview #quityourjob #jobsearch

Laid off after 20 years. I started a job & quit in 6 months because it was so toxic. I've been looking for months.

I worked for the school committee for five years and grew weary. Since I had my summers free I started looking for another job. In two weeks I had a new position. I worked in the new position for two months. My roommate unemployed and was looking for a job before me. She was still looking for one after I received my new position. Plus, I had the opportunity to see if I liked the position before I had to report for work in September.
