Daemon had always taken the protection and revenge for his family extremely far. The biggest problem is that he does not have any skill for court. the other thing you have to understand is the way he was raised he was raised in a customs and old Valeria so of course he is going to have more extreme views I mean you see this with the wedding he puts Valyrian above all else. we see Viserys obsession with Old Valyria but Daemon's is more subtle.
