@sarahandspices: Within 10 minutes, this itchy, red skin turned into anaphylaxis 🩵 When I’m having a mild reaction, I take quick pictures or videos to track symptoms. This is one of my biggest tips because it’s helpful when talking about the reaction with a doctor later. Most of my mild allergic reactions calm down with an antihistamine or time, and I sit still to avoid triggering it further with exercise. But this one escalated fast. Within minutes, my throat was red, my lips started swelling, I felt nauseous, and I had trouble breathing. My boyfriend gave me epinephrine, and we went to the hospital. I’m doing much better now. This happened last week, and I took some time off to rest and recover 🫶 Let this be your reminder: epi first, epi fast. Epinephrine is first-line treatment for anaphylaxis. If you think you’re having an anaphylactic reaction, don’t hesitate to give epi. (Not medical advice, just sharing my experience.) I still don’t know what caused the reaction. I made the meal myself with safe ingredients, so it may have been triggered by my mast cell activation syndrome (MCAS).
