when a labour union go on a "strike" does that mean they are literally striking or beating their employer? So the English language also have different meanings of the same word. so the word daraba here would mean distance away or travel away or turn away or seal or cover the relationship. Sister here explained it very well.

Didn’t the prophet already explain in a Hadith the meaning of strike. When explaining the word “strike,” the Prophet ﷺ reportedly said: “If you must, then do not hit the face, and do not cause pain.” Abu Dawud. it’s basically a light striking. Tho the prophet himself nvr do it.

this darab in this verse does not mean separation as being mentioned earlier as seperate from bed. but it refers to slight non harmful strike.
