Jesus talked about sacrifices and tithing before the cross and resurrection, before the new covenant was made. He used tithing and sacrifices as examples when talking to his apostles. He kept the law since he was “born under the law” (Galatians 4:4). But we can’t take his words as a good thing about tithing today just because he said to offer sacrifices.

The Mosaic covenant is no longer in effect for believers. Some people say that tithing is based on the division between the civil, ceremonial, and moral law, but that’s not what Paul says when he talks about how the law applies to us today. Even if we use those distinctions, tithing is clearly not part of the moral law.

Jacob’s giving of a tenth was a way of showing his gratitude to God for promising to be with him and protect him. His gratitude and generosity still speak to us today, but a description of what Jacob gave doesn’t support the idea that all believers must give God a tenth of their income.

Tithes were given to the Levites and priests, but there are no Levites and priests in the new covenant. Levites and priests were connected to the sacrificial system of the old covenant. Now, all believers are priests (1 Peter 2:9; Revelation 1:6; 5:10; 20:6), with Jesus as our Melchizedekian high priest (Hebrews 7).

NUMBERS 18:19 God said that giving shall be be done forever. He told Haron that it is a covenant forever. I will Tithe forever, I'll give my offerings forever. Tithe of all things. God bless you Bishop
