I learned code switching in college, I didn’t know that’s what it was called then. It was a part of my etiquette class. I learned how to speak “proper” and how to “correct” my grammar & my accent. 2 years. It was taught by a yt lady but my mentor told me, it’s the only way to get anywhere in academia. Ik she meant well & I respected her & listened to her. I ended up being the keynote speaker at graduation & I didn’t hide my accent & spoke Spanish in my speech. 🥹 I still code switch mon-fri 9-5 tho…🥲
